Since I don't get to clan as much as I like, I tend to try to keep abreast of the Clan Lord world by visiting a number of different sites. My starting point is always Babajaga's fine diary, on the Red Quill site. I like her diary because
1. She's one of the top 5%ers in CL, so she gets to see stuff I'll never see, because I'm such a wuss, 2. I'm amazed how good her English is, frequently better than mine, 3. It's updated pretty regularly, 4. She's got a handy list of places to see, which saves me the hassle of bookmarking every other Clan Lord diarist. (Sorry that the link to Baba's site doesn't go right to the diary, but she uses frames for her site, so if I link to the diary directly, you get no navigation links. Thus, a fine example of why frames suck.) I admire people who maintain regularly updated diaries. If you actually play Clan Lord enough to have stuff to write about, and can find the time to write about it, that's pretty impressive. A few comments on the big Clan Lord diaries. (If I missed your diary, let me know.) Norm's Adventures: I've always enjoyed Norm's sense of humor, and I share a lot of his frustrations. Norm's focus tends to be training, advancement and exploration, and not too much on stories. It's good stuff. Yor's Scroll's: Yor spends a fair amount of time engaged in those massive cluster-f*ck events, like assaults on Alchemist's Folly, or Orga Camp and the likes. Good stuff if you want to know about these giant assaults. I personally avoid involvement in anything requiring more than 10 exiles to do, because I think Clan Lord game play tends to breakdown, since people can't communicate fast enough. I am grateful that Yor writes about that kind of stuff, though. Otherwise I'd have no clue about these things. Lose the music clip, though, Yor, or make it a clickable-link-thing. Having that on your page pretty much guarantees no one will visit the page from work. Puddleby Post: I' m not providing a link to this because it's basically dead. Hasn't been updated in months, and it's one of the worst designed pages for news I've ever seen. Interesting from a historical sense only. Raiine's Scrolls: The one thing I will say is Raiine updates regularly. However, the background on this site is enough to cause epileptic seizures when you try to read the horribly illegible font. Between that and trying to filter out the endless amounts of crap after each sentence, I find the site unreadable. Why must each sentence end with :oD or :o) or :oP or *grins*? That might be cute in Clan Lord, but it's annoying as hell to read. I could tolerate the writing if the background and font were changed, but the combination of all three sends me lurching for the "Back" button and a bottle of aspirin. Paramedic's Fishwrap: Not really a diary in the traditional sense, but enjoyable. I find reading log files from Clan Lord to be a bit tiring, though. Tends to be on a lighter, more personal side, as Paramedic tends to interview various Clan Lord people. Sometimes the questions are topical, other times just amusing. Clan Bored: A good source of day to day news, but frequently a bit juvenille. Still worth going to, though. I wish they'd use a less annoying hosting company, though. The pop-up ads get on my nerves. It's only $9 a month for a real hosting company... Lundar's Journal: Lundar does a nice journal, usually quite detailed, but updates are somewhat infrequent. Considering the depth of his entries, I can understand that.
