I have not turned on the television in my apartment for weeks, with the one exception to show someone my Pastor Gas video tape, which is 4 minutes long. (If I had a video digitizer, I'd turn that tape into a Quicktime short, and put it up. But alas, I do not. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen, but fart humor never fails on my childish brain.) I do not miss television at all. I'd probably rent more movies if I had a better television / DVD set up, but I'm deferring such a purchase until my money situation improves.

Now I spend my wasted hours listening to music and between two computers. ICQ and email does help to make me feel that I'm not entirely alone in the world. I also find myself being slightly more creative with my various projects, such as this site. To think of all the hours wasted, passively, sitting in front of the idiot box. The only way I'll ever watch TV again is with a TiVo, so I can have more control over the quality. I am somewhat interested in seeing the SciFi networks Dune mini-series, and there are a few other shows that are decently entertaining, but scheduling is always a challenge. A TiVo would address that problem. Better living through gadgetry, that's my approach.

I wish the presidential election thing would get settled one way or the other. It's making the stock market go bezerk, and my only hope of financial security is a pile of stock I hold on to from my previous job. It's horribly undervalued (and no, it's NOT dot.com stock.) so I know eventually it will come around, but the waiting is making me nuts. Well, actually, the waiting and watching the stock sink slowly lower...

In spite of myself, I'm thinking about seeing Red Planet. I know it sucks already. It's been awhile since I've seen a movie, and at this point. a stupid, good looking bad science fiction film might just nail my craving. It's been such a crappy few months for films.
