Conny lured me into Alchera, when I had every intention of calling it an early night and trying to get some sleep. Next thing I know, I'm doing the GM thing, with her and another GM. We had a lot of fun, and I got a wee bit better in dealing with the GM interface. I need to make some macros for it, because the GM interface is really quite awkward to deal with. It's very easy to make mistakes and very hard to do what you want. Practice, practice, practice, I suppose.
I did manage to free myself by a very reasonable 11 pm, but made the mistaking of getting on the phone and talking to Mark for over two hours. We hadn't really talked at length since before the holidays, and we swapped girlfriend stories, and pined over Apple's new hardware. The cloud that's been hanging over my head the past few days is beginning to lighten. It's amazing how all of a sudden, these feelings take control of my brain and color everything I see. Nothing has changed really, but I feel different. Before, it was like a weight was on me, and I just couldn't connect to any joy whatsoever, even though I knew I had a lot to be happy about. It was like a wire was broken. But, the wire seems to be connected again, to some degree. Winter seems to do this to me every year... I suppose a few days once in awhile isn't really unusual, especially considering the current circumstances. Spent some time the other day with a few clan mates in town square. A conversation started about chains, and how they keep breaking, in spite of lessons with Loovma Geer. It seems people who had trained 50 or so times with Loovma were getting extremely low breakage, sometimes getting 100 pulls or more. So, someone behind the scenes at Delta Tao obviously decided the "Loovma Factor" needed to be ramped down. Now people with a fair amount of Loovma are noticing chains breaking all the time. This means if you've invested 50 ranks in Loovma Geer, you will only see a marginal improvement in your chain usage. This validates my decision to always avoid new trainers, because in the end, you are testing the training for Delta Tao and you have no guarantees that the trainer won't be lobotomized, and your ranks spent made useless. Which makes me think of one of the "Design Guidelines" DT espouses, but never adheres to: "Players will never be dramatically sent backwards."
