Here is one of the most reasonable and well argued anaysis of why copy protection is bad. All the talk about how Napster is evil, and people are stealing from artists is total smoke screen. The real motivation of the copyright facist police is keeping content scarce, and maximizing profit for intermediaries, not paying artists. Copyrights are supposed to serve the artists and the content creators, but they've been hijacked by the distributors, who claim to act on the artists behalf. They are liars.
