Nothing quite like a company-sponsored hangover on a Friday. When I woke up, I had the vague taste of port in my mouth. The company I work for took our group out for a lavish dinner to celebrate a successful launch of a project. The restaurant was a Brazillian steakhouse, Churrascaria Plataforma. Service is "rodizio" style, which means guys with slabs of meat on the sword-like skewers come over to you, and cut slices off. It was meat, meat and more meat. And booze too, as the company sprang for an open bar. Since we have a few non-drinkers in our group, I felt obligated to drink their share. After the manager of the restuarant basically told us to get the hell out (apparently they needed our table of 30 for another party?), a large number of us went to the lounge at Iguana.

The place was packed, and loud, and hot. A bunch of us hit the dance floor, while the older folks started to discreetly head for the car service cars waiting to take them home, and away from the debauchery. I staggered out into the fresh air around midnight, and walked the few blocks from the club to my apartment. The last drink of the night, as it so often does, took a bit of time to sink in. When I got in the front of door of my apartment, my mission was to keep my eyes open for as long as I could, and to drink as much water as possible. I distracted myself with ICQ, and a number of people seemed to be amused by my state. There were a number of advocates for just throwing up and getting it over with, but I guess I just wasn't that drunk.

I crawled into bed and passed out around 2AM. What a night.

I have over three weeks of Conny to look forward to, including a visit to her in Munich. It's amazing how those types of arrangements can be such a mood-lifter.
