Take my Eggo, please

Now that I have a functioning toaster in my apartment, a whole new culinary world is open to me. Things like toast, english muffins, and the occasional breakfast pastry are now mine to enjoy in all their slightly browned goodness. This whole situation is still quite novel for me, and I haven't really adjusted my shopping habits for it. The other day, Conny and I were in the grocery store, pondering what to get for the various meals of the day. Breakfast is always tricky, especially when Conny doesn't find Cap'n Crunch to be the food of the Gods like I do. Seeing as I can only figure out so many ways to present eggs, I realized that frozen waffles were an option, and one that doesn't involve cleaning a frying pan. We went into the frozen food section, and there were about 900 varieties of waffles to choose from.

One problem, though. All of them are round.

A round waffle might be easier to throw than a square waffle, but other than that, I cannot think of any good reason to remove the corners from a waffle. Were people injuring themselves on the sharp edges? What pinhead said "Hey, people have square toasters, and we are going to use a rectangular box, why not make the waffles round? That way there's more empty box and less waffle!" A round waffle offers less food than a square waffle. It's just bad economics for the consumer to support such an abomination.

Really, please, for the good of waffle lovers everywhere, support square waffles. Or write a letter to the Kellogg's people telling them to shove their Eggo's right up their round waffle irons.

Unfortunately, I had to buy them because there really were no square waffles, except for some Belgian style frozen waffles, which I could not buy on account of only buying American made waffles. Once you start supporting foreign waffles, it's not long before the whole waffle market starts to collapse.

Oh, and Conny has a really cute way of saying the word "waffle." Must be a German thing. When you see her, ask her to say it.
