Picnic
I have a great respect for parents. I have a greater respect for parents who have more children than hands. My deepest admiration, though, is reserved for those parents who brave driving into New York City, parking the car, walking several blocks to the subway, and arriving at Central Park, with five kids in tow, two in strollers no less. The military could learn a lesson in logistics from these folks. I'll admit that Conny Even more amazingly was the modest reason for this inspired effort: our first New York City TalkAboutUSA member meeting. Even though the wee kiddies aren't yet able to post, we allowed them an exemption seeing how their parents are members in good standing. Though we had some last minute cancellations and a snafu that kept one couple from making it, we had an impressive turn out. Including minors, we had twelve people come to picnic in Central Park. Six of those people spent the day making sure the other six didn't crack their fearless heads open at Heckscher Playground. Luckily two of the six had limited mobility. The remaining four could be carefully manipulated with promises of ice cream and distracted by a nearby softball game. Conny and I slept very well that night, thank you.
