Preaching to the perverted

It's fall, so that means it's almost time for my annual "Welcome to Kink" talk at TES. If you care to learn about kink, come to the Novice Group meeting at 8pm, on Wednesday October 13th. The meeting is at 357, West 36th Street, 3rd Floor. Doors open at 7:30, and it's $8 for non-members, $4 for members, and for this meeting only, free for any students 18 or older who present ID.

This is the third time I've given the presentation, and it's a great deal of fun to preach to the fresh, curious perverts. If you are even remotely curious about such things, I encourage you to drop on by.

On a sadder, vaguely kink-related note, it turns out the sterilization of St. Marks Place is proceeding at a frightening pace. When Conny and I were strolling through this once edgy, artistic neighborhood, we found a shiny new food court with a Quizno's, and a Gap clothing store smack dab in the middle of the street. Uck.

Worst of all, I almost fell to my knees and wept when I saw that what was once the great fetish and dress-up boutique Religious Sex is now some trendy restaurant. Apparently, as is commonly the case in New York City, when neighborhoods get more desirable, landlords squeeze out old tenants for news ones willing to pay more rent. Because of this, the folks at Religious Sex are now only to be found on the Internet. No more store, no more fun struggling with latex leggings in the hot changing room. And St. Marks is worse of for it, because frankly, there are enough frickin' restaurants, Gaps and Quizno's in every other part of the damn city.

Sometimes market forces suck.
